The meaning of IT
Information Technology [IT] is the use of computers to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data or information.
The IT Platform
The term: IT Platform cover the hardware, software and hosted services related to support the business by handling the data input and/or data output
We use "Hardware" as the term for all the electronic equipment used in order to provide the business with data, i.e. server, computer, AccessPoint, printer, router and switch.
We use "Software" in the term as all the applications used in order to provide the business with data, i.e. MS Office 2016, SAP or Oracle.
We use "Application" in the term as the software used for a specific purpose by the business, i.e. Word 2016.
We use "Interface" in the definition of where data automatically are being copied from one application to another application.
